The solos' on "Inhuman Rampage" (album) were all sped up, they played them at about half to 3/4 speed then just sped them up. A lot of people will argue that if you speed up the original recording then it would become high pitch, this is true. But if you increase the "tempo" then it's not a problem, heck I can record a slow sweep pattern at about 100bpm on a program called Audacity (freeware) and then speed up the tempo without messing up the pitch of the audio.
I've seen em play live twice, my god they suck, there are some parts (not even solos/leads) that they stumble on like simple power chord tremelo picking/etc. They get so wasted it's unbelievable how they manage not to fall over drunk. The only solo that Herman can do live is the one from "Valley of the Damned" and even then he can only do the intro to the solo, once the whammy pedal part comes in he just kinda improvs and it sounds like utter shit.
@THEWHO27:
Van Halen is not the fastest, neither is Hendrix, great guitarists though.
@M3dium: Zakk Wylde is a pretty cool guitarist, by no means the fastest though. Michael Amott can play circles around him and M.A. isn't the fastest either.
