Just4Today maybe? And don't miss that IPv6 tunnel thingy, you can find a tutorial right in this forum. As far as I know, it was better than traditional IPv4 free servers.

just4today sounds good but only has retention 10+ days but i will give it a try thanks can you tell me a lil more about this IPv6 tunnel thingy and were i could find the tutorial in the forum here
Okies. IPv4 is the protocol most hosts on the Internet currently use to "talk" to each other. But the number of free addresses it has available is running out due to the growing number of Internet users. IPv6 is a new version of the protocol which aims to solve that. It's said that we could assign every atom on Earth an IPv6 address, and still have free slots. However, it is not widespread so far.
An IPv6 tunnel enables your computer to contact other IPv6 hosts over your normal IPv4 connection. One of those hosts would be a free news server

Not to state the obvious here, but it never hurts to find out if your ISP (or other ISPs that serve your area) offers free usenet. Many ISPs still do, especially in Europe, and despite what you might hear about ISP-provided usenet, some of them have awesome service - and often hardly anyone knows about it
thanks zot i already called my ISP and they told me that they use to offer usenet but not any more now
To go with that IPv6 tut. A thread about free IPv6 newsservers

Mind you mike160, and all other members willing to start with ipv6 and Usenet, Eweka stopped their trial, and Xsnews stopped offering test-accounts some time ago too.
The only server that remains is thus newszilla with a pisspoor retention of +- 18 days and max 2 connections.
It seems the good ole days of ipv6 are coming to an end.
Can you feel the LOVE
