Thread: Who Is the best Usenet Provider?

  1. #21
Astraweb and Tweaknews seem like a good place to start.

Eh, i just use Giganews, there are some articles that get taken down (New movies that are cam recorded, or bluray releases etc...)
But its mostly good, nice retention and i get VPN included

There are many complaints about Astraweb on the forum. There were more before the big data loss, though.

Supernews has bad take downs and SCREW Astraweb, did you read their Policy? https://filesharingtalk.com/threads/4...-from-astraweb!

Like 10Mbit/sec bad? Or 2Mbit/sec (or less) bad?

I will use a disposable credit card (service that my BoA CC offers) so I'm not that worried about the security of the card.
I took the plunge and signed up. So far, it's kinda meh.

The trial subscription was decent. Got around 10Mbit/sec. so I figured that the 10MBit/sec subscription was the one to go for.

But after I subscribed to the 10Mbit/sec plan, my actual speeds today are around 7Mbit/sec. Don't know if this is an issue with speeds during the day or if the trial subscription had a higher speed limit than the 10Mbit plan.

So it's not horrible but not that great. Oh well, let's see how often I run into DMCA issues.

7 megabits a second? What's your downlink speed...

My only general suggestion is that for a different perspective on providers people might perhaps learn Cyrillic.
Just like the NSA, I'm compelled to copy everything I want to.

I have a slow downlink. Only around 14Mbit/sec. Not a lot of choices in providers around here. At least the ISP is pretty cool in that they don't meter. They let you download as much as you want. Of course, with a 14Mbit/sec downlink, I don't think I can do much more than around 1.3TB in a month even if I tried to download 24/7.

Speeds seem a little better today but still can't get 10Mbit/sec. Oh well, it's good enough for now as I'm splitting my downloading between newsgroups and torrents.
