Thread: Radeon 9700 Opengl

  1. #1
Alright, this has been bugging the hell out of me for months and I want to fix it once and for all. I'm a relative Linux Newbie and I want to know how I can get the Linux OpenGL drivers to work with my Radeon 9700 Pro. I'm running SuSE 9.0 with Kernel 2.4.21

I've installed the latest drivers, set up fglrx, and yelled at the machine and yet still lack 3D accelleration and have lousy performance on my desktop. Does anyone have a way to solve this problem? I know that Radeon can work in Linux, I've seen it, I just don't know how to do it.

Prompt sweet prompt, what would I do without it?

3d accelleration is not fully support in Linux yet. You risk the chance of your box hanging and crashing frequently.

You should try Mandrake 9.2. As distributions progress they have newer versions of Xfree86 and newer graphic cards are added to the list.
