Eclipse Internet, who I am with, regularly recieve awards for the high quality of their ADSL broadband services. The features of the packages are excellent and they are both reliable and secure, while still cheaper than BT or AOhelL.
If you want a really cheap ADSL ISP, Pipex offer a decent service at a very good price.
You could also consider cable ISPs such as NTL or Telewest.
http://www.adslguide.org/ and http://www.ispreview.co.uk/ have big lists of ISP you can look over
The Sexay Half Of ABBA And Max: Freelance Plants
thanks for your help so far , anyone else got anymore indeas, thanks again
Edit: does This look to cheap to be true?

you make Pipex sound like a second-rate piece of crap isp..
pipex are arguably better than eclipse (what's the binary newsgroup support like on eclipse?)
i'd give up 3kbps for 35000 newsgroups, 99.9% completion and 5 days retention

Look into it in detail, you'll find it's actually £20.83 per month for a 1 year contract, or £28 per month for a six month contract. It only drops to £16.66 per month if you commit yourself to a 2 year contract, paid up front. Are you sure THEY are still going to be around in 2 years time?Originally posted by Kunal@7 December 2003 - 13:20

Plus you have to pay for the modem.
Maybe not such a great deal.

it might not be the best or the cheapest but i like freeserve
i don't like freeserve because of their bad customer service and poor newsgroup service, but each to their own, i supposeOriginally posted by Marius24@7 December 2003 - 16:52
