Yeah, what.cd is still down. There was a weird error message at first but now it is a white screen. I have been checking the whatcd twitter for an update, is there any other non-irc place to find out what is happening? It really seems like there is going to a FL today. I didn't break the site, and neither did Theseus. But it is indeed down, and we are still working on it. Just keep your fingers crossed that it comes back up sooner rather than later.

Yeah the picks this time were not so great. The problem with jumping on too fast is that the "free" part hasn't kicked in yet. And for people without a seedbox, the hit they take for downloading isn't really helped by the upload credit they get. Once a torrent hits 1k seeds - the seedboxes takes over and you can't get any upload ratio off of them.

We're back!

Secondly, you guys deserve an explanation of exactly what went down in the last few days, there's no easy way to give bad news.

There was a database crash on our main server which corrupted all of our data. The good news is, we have managed to recover almost all of the database. As fate would have it however, the tables that we were unable to recover included those for torrents, and those for users. This, of course, is where our backup solution would come into play. Due to the size of our database, and the importance of uptime, some conventional methods of backing up are unavailable to us, and we opted for a method that gave you no downtime. However, the backups themselves, due to an oversight on our part, were not correctly implemented and as such, torrents and users are now rolled back to the last available good back up taken ~1 month ago. We did manage to recover some data from the corrupted tables, so some recent torrents could be saved. Also, stats (upload and download) are recovered from 10 days ago.

What this means to your account: If you joined before 1 month ago, congratulations, you just got 10 days worth of free downloading on your account as your stats have rolled back.

If you joined after the cutoff however, don't worry, we have got your email addresses and have sent every single one of the lost users a new invite. If you want to be re-associated with your old activity (Forum posts, PMs etc.) then PM a staff member with the necessary information.

If you know somebody who joined after the cutoff, tell them they've been re-invited.

What this means to the torrents: We can't sugar coat it, we lost a lot of torrents. To try and get us back up to speed we will have a 6 hour freeleech on all new uploads when we've taken a look at the tracker. To repeat: there is no freeleech right now, we will make a new announcement when there is.

We will obviously be spending time in the coming days developing a new backup strategy that won't leave us in this horrible situation again, but may require small stints of downtime while we set them up.

The reason for this is because i noticed donations were going missing so i redirected the donations to my own account rather than my co-owners (Superman).
His response to that was to delete peerportal from the server and close the domain.
It seems for as long as peerportal was up Superman has been skimming donations like a thieving scumbag.
We may be down but we are not out, i will endeavor to get us back online although it my be on a completely new domain and format.
I feel i must apologize to the 6500 active members of our community and hope to see you soon.

SceneHD looks to have some network connections problems.
From my side it does not work .
At host-tracker.com tests it fails on 47 servers but on 38 others it looks OK .
There is someone who know what is going on there ?

I was able to get into the site once and it looks like something happened with their database too .
The site show just 5500 torrents . Yesterday were about 8500 .
The newest torrents from today are completely out of peers .
We'll have to wait , hoping that the admins know about the problem

I'm sure they've noticed such a large chunk of their torrents is now missing. If there's no announcement about this in the frontpage, you could try asking them on IRC.

Using the three letter abbreviation is itself a sign of respect to a tracker (three letters instead of a full name), and it's impossible not to notice that the post right above yours has the full abbreviation quoted from another post. FTN will never open for signups and invites are pretty scarce, since as far as I know you only may get one if you donate.

You should try IRC, even if you got disabled due to inactivity they'll probably be kind enough to reenable you. :)

I tried pretty much all I could try- cleared cookies,cleared history in IE, tried both FF and IE, used https and http...No change, can't login and the tracker's the same for me.. Fingers crossed it's not a country ban of some sort!

I'd say you go to IRC with your real IP, of course, and ask whether there's some sort of ban placed on your address.

If there isn't, it's probably a routing problem.
