BTN (https) is down for me. It would seem reachable from http, but when login, it automatically changes back to https, making the site unreachable. I tried deleting cookies, cache. Port 443 is working: for example, FTN is flawlessly accesible through https. Switching off firewall doesn't help. Catch 22 - you cannot enter your profile, to change your settings (https - http). Tracker is OK, though - torrents are seeded.

And FSC.. or at least I think it was that. There were so many similar notices on the various home pages that I lost track.

SDBits has been up for me all along I believe, so if they are moving servers, they either haven't done it yet or are very very fast.

I am not sure if all trackers that are down are on the same hosts, but its the hosts that are moving datacenters/cities, the trackers themselves have not really got much say, and as they are moving lock stock and barrel, and it looks like quite a few servers at that, it may take 2-4 days, to sort everyone out + whatever it is for DNS servers and getting them back up and working again.

The host we all use is typically pretty stable... so seeing all our sites down at once may seem pretty shocking to some of you :)

I know we had 791 days with 0 downtime using this host.
So them having some of our sites offline for a few days every blue moon isn't as bad as using a sucky host and having our sites down every other week like happens with carat.

Yes, it's true. ISP name servers are often bad. I've also been using OpenDNS for years now, although I'll switch to DNS Resolvers next time I reinstall Windows - I don't like the error pages and don't want to make an account and download a program just to disable them for my dynamic IP...

The hosts got the IPs this morning at 1am GMT, I gave them the info they needed, said they would get straight on it, stayed up till 3am no reply, so had to go to bed, got up at 8am, not on Gtalk so again its just a waiting game.

As soon as i get the IPs i will get on the site and make sure everything is working, if not we will fix the important things (tracker for 1) and then change the nameservers over to the new IP on the domain.

Just have some patience, but we are getting there.


Unfortunately there's a new "ETA". " No ETA: Fixing final problems. The servers are safe and online. Awaiting IP change/DNS update."

The hosts messed up our server/ip its a long story, and its not really their fault either, but things have went a bit pear shaped to say the least. I havnt heard from them at all today, but they are 8 hours behind my timezone.

But what they are going to do, is, backup the data on both servers, Update/reinstall the OS as ours is at least 2 years old, put everything back on, and hopefully set the IP to the webserver, the domain has already been changed by me last night, so again hopefully, as soon as the site is up (even if things are not working like the tracker/IRC) the site should show.

Time frame for all that, well i was hoping it would be done when I got up, hours ago, so I dont have a clue im afraid, but hopefully not long (I am sick of saying that tbh)

TvTz is moving on ...First, let's get some rumors out of the way. No, we weren't hacked or taken down.

Running a site like TvTz is a constant cat and mouse game. You have to use lots of security layers in between you and the site. It takes its toll let me tell you that. You plant disinformation and lies all over the place to avoid being pinned down by profilers. People are constantly trying to figure out who you really are, by adding together your answers to seemingly small and unrelated questions. They remember what you answer, so you better have prepared your lies in advance and memorized them. For most this is not that big of a deal, some don't even try to hide at all. In my case I have loved ones that would suffer a lot if this was ever pinned on me, so I lied my ass off. My deepest apologies for that!

So what happened then? Well, there was an incident at the front-end of our setup, and normally it would have just been replaced within a day or so, but this time it felt different. I realized I was tired of hiding and lying. It was time for a change. Unfortunately this all took place while I had a personal incident in the family, which delayed this message. I apologize for that as well!

TvTz is a fantastic community and now is the time for us to move on to a new technology. Something that uses a decentralized setup (meaning no central server). There are plenty of systems to choose from, and after doing some heavy investigating for a while we've picked RetroShare as our new platform. It's far from finished but it has come a long way already, and we expect it to continue to grow in the future. It's a F2F system (friend-to-friend) and you can read more about it here.

We really hope to see as many of you as possible on our new path towards our original goal. It will be a fun journey!

Whatever you decide, I want to thank you all for your dedication! And staff, this could absolutely not have been done without you! You are simply fantastic! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

IP ban maybe? If you've accessed the site before, the favicon may be cached.

It was something I had selected, the site sometimes timed out or the captcha just wouldn't come up.

We use the same hosting company as what.cd and several other sites that have been down recently.
Upon our server being transferred to the new hosting facility... they seem to have err killed it.
Just waiting on new server parts to build a new system with.
Whenever the parts come in and get assembled the server will be put back online and backups installed onto it.

Sorry Gail, I don't use skype, but the situation is exactly the same... no changes, and no plans for any return. If something did change then there would probably be something posted on FST... as for any emails, well, I'm not actually sure what H did with the account database when the site closed, so dunno if he'll still have everyone's email address. I know he's very security conscious, and when the previous site closed down he deleted the database altogether, so not sure on that front...
