Pretty awesome site. Cant wait until the 30 days are up so i can add some torrents. Makes sense having to make new members wait 30 days, as it means people cant come and join and then abuse the site. i love it :yup:

We are on friendly terms with many BT sites so if a member cheats, scams or is banned from BT sites, we can and do put word out so they quickly find themselves only able to connect to public trackers.

You may see members here with light blue stars under their names. These are Community Reps and are representatives of BT sites - mods and admins.
Although they have special stars their accounts carry exactly the same priorities as standard accounts at FST; in other words they cannot see members' IPs, cannot edit other members' posts, cannot ban members or issue infractions to them, cannot close threads (except ones they started in the BT Invites section) and cannot move or delete threads.

The board takes an hour to update after the thirty days and or fifth post.
Your account already has access now as the board has run its update...

how would I go about finding out when the 30 days are up (or my join date)? When I joined ths site, I didn't realize it had an invite section and have since then forgot the date on which I joined. I tired the User Control Panel but it didn't give me nuch information.

I believe waiting 30 days is not a bad thing at all... Teaches you respect and a bit of patience! I believe this is a crucial service, since most people don't appreciate the effort going into providing a "service to the community". Creating torrents, checking that the info is correct, uploading them, and chatting to leechers. So posting ONLY 5 times and waiting a few days is worth the wait ;)

If you read the rules when you joined this site then you agreed to abide by them. If an invite to xxxxx is valuable then surely it is worth waiting for - an invite is not just for Christmas - it is for the life if the Torrent site.

It was then opened again, presumably by RealitY.

When you posted this it was just after your fifth post. The board generally takes around to update. Noticed about an hour after this you were able to view and post in the invites section. Seems something is wrong with your account though appearing as a guest account with no post count. Your account does have a profile with a signup date though. Guessing the account just needs to be adjusted manually to set it right. Gonna let rossco take a look at this first though...

Dont think the criteria to get invite access encourages spam and even if so not much. It was originally set that you had to have more posts. That did create somespam so the needed post count was lowered to five posts. If your noticed spamming the five posts your account could be disabled or banned from the site. With such a low count of posts needed it should be easy to make those posts and not have to spam them. If you cant find anything on the site to post about then maybe you shouldnt be a member of the site.

As for the limit that allows n00bs to get familiar with the site and the members. It also keeps out n00bs that just want to join and grab and go. This is a community after all. Most regulars dont want to give or trade invites to those they know from nothing. If thats all you want and arent intersted in the community and what we do then there are other sites you can check out also...

Well, 5 posts ain't that bad. And waiting 30 days (or is it 31?)... Time flies and in no time a month would have passed.

On a few trackers I already have a ratio of more than 2... and having to wait 30/31 days there to become a power user... NOW THAT IS TOUGH :)

Only 20 days to go to become full member :)

It doesn't seem like that big of a deal to have to wait to GIVE out invites as well as to beg for them. If those private sites you're a part of don't have some kind of way of punishing you for inviting in a hasty fashion, they should (...IF those people you barely knew don't follow the rules.)

I'm getting an invite to one, finally... and if I were to join this forum with the intent to find people to invite, I would want to spend at least a month getting to know the people I'm going to entrust the health of my beloved network to.

I think its a little harsh to ban him for just expressing his opinion. While most people realise this site isn't just for invite trading, its the first site i have encountered which has a sub-forum dedicated to invite trading.

Man, we have enough restrictions on our everyday Life, i also registered mainly to trade Invites, why keep that away from new Members for 1 Month? If for example, many people starts to Register here just because they like to say "Hi" in the "Hi" section of the Forum, you also make them start waiting 1 Month before they can say "Hi"??
Everyone must have 1 Good Reason to Register on a particular Forum, and for sure it's not because of your "cute faces" and in this case it is the "Invites" section that atracts People here. If you don't want any more Members, than close your Forum but it's not rational to "make" People post "no's", "yes's", "thank you's" and so on just to have enough post's to achieve their main goal which is: "Get a Damn Invite"!?
At the end you have a Forum with tousands of Posts which sometimes have tousands of replies and half of them are repeated over and over again.
This is just my humble opinion, and oh yeah, i almost fogotten, i am just a noobie, but than again i just made my 2nd post, 3 to go!

A quick search shows 1218 members with exactly 5 posts.

Wether you people like it or not, Trading Invites is aalll Filesharingtalk in it's best Fashion.
I don't say with this that People should Register, make 5 Posts and wait a Month to finally get access to the Invite sections, but if that is the case, that Person has exactly the same right to be here that you have, in my opinion.
Anyways, i don't think you find many of those cause once here you start looking around and reading Posts and you find yourself (by free will) posting in many interesting Threads you can find in this Forum.

The Filesharingtalk board existed for years before the bit-torrent invite section was here. So, far from it being 'aalll Filesharingtalk', it's only a small facet of talk about filesharing.

So far as invite hungry people with only 5 posts having as much right to be here as someone with a brazillion posts - well that's obvious. Of course they have because the rules allow for this. One small positive is that maybe one in about 500 of these people might become a regular poster.

However, I don't believe that the vast, vast majority of them contribute anything to the board as a whole -- and I'm right.

If that is the way you described, that so many peeps makes exactly 5 posts just to get access to the invites, than weather i like it or not i must also agree with the 5 posts/1 Month Rule!
The only problem is that good Filesharers that Register here with intention to get an Invite but also to contribute to the Community (like myself), are perjudicated by those 5 posts People.

it has taken me over a month to read all the 'how to' threads on this site,so now i have read them all and have a fair idea what the heck i am doing ill start posting but you can keep hold of your invites cos im not that good at it yet

or even better ... 1 day. and since we can agree on 1 day, we can agree on removing the time waiting. this way someone can create each day an account, ask for invites (or "trade" them) make accounts on trackers, hit and run and then shutdown the computer for the night. great sugestion.

it should b if you signed up and it says join date november you should be able to post in december. since there are no dates join novemer 30th be able to post on december first, that would pwn. lol. how do you know you have 28 days? is there really away to c or are you counting? my estimation is 20 days. is this a good place for invites or something coz theres plenty of other places. im just on here for bordom at work =D. btw a month is when the next full moon strikes n shines of sum poor bald guys head. cheers.

The whole idea of invites is to send them to people you know and trust so that private torrent sites don't become clogged with a bunch of leechers. I mean, if everyone gave away invites to anyone that asked, we might as well all go back to using public sites, no? The one month isn't just so that people will stay on this site, but so that people who are giving away invites can get to know you a little bit, rather than risk an invite on someone who isn't worthwhile.

I trust the people dealing in invites realise that if they do invite someone who then leeches there is every prospect that they may lose their own account. Some sites hold the inviter responsible for the people they invite.

There is also the question of who you are inviting. Maybe it's not a leech, it could be someone from the authorities, who the site owners do not want there.

That's kind of the idea of keeping it as a private site. Only having good sharers, who are trusted by the other users.

This rule definately seems to be a pain in the #$%^&, but it is understandable as to why it would be put into place. We live in an age where instant gratification is an expectation, and patience is hardly ever practiced.

How would one know that you had such a record.

In any case is it really such a big deal. Five posts and have to wait a month. Maybe even get to know some of the people here during that time. There is more to this place than sharing torrent invites. Trust me it's worth taking a look about. Particularly if you are interested in computers and file sharing.

If you want to help oher people, perhaps with advice on software, hardware, games or whatever that's fine too. You may be able to get some help on stuff yourself, or other people's opinions on things you are interested in.

Can I suggest that if you want to discuss your Aunt then the lounge is probably your best bet.

The point is it's a whole file sharing community thing and it's possible that you might want to join in with that. If not, that's cool too.

My guess is that English is not your first language. If it was, you would understand that "one month" means from the day of the month you joined until the same day of the following month.
For you, this would be the 14th of December, so one month has not passed.
