That's weird I joined at the beginning of the year I think when I posted 2 questions and haven't used it since(this forum) then posted another 4 question this month. I was using this site at the beginning of the year but then went travelling around UK/Europe all year. Just got back. So new to computers in a manner of speaking. New to Macs. And didn't know what a port, NAT, etc. etc. was till a month ago, still really don't.

people just need to show a little patience. Most sites frown on, or even ban, invite-trading, and their staff are likely to browse these forums looking for people trading accoutns or invites. They only want you to invite people you know a little bit! if you get on any private tracker, and are a good member, people will get to know you after a month or two, and you should have no problem getting invites to just about any site.

I think the problem lies in the lazyness of the last 2 generations (X,Y) This thread is 58 pages long and about every 5th page some ask's why we have to wait 30 days - 5 posts and then complains about it. Has it changed???? "Good things come to those who wait" I'm sure someone important said that once or thrice! Okay but i'm sure you understand:

1) Invite section doesn't exactly contribute anything to other parts of the board, we just offer it as a place to let users trade in one place since as you say they will do it somewhere else anyway.
2) If we allowed everyone to trade the section would be so full of trades that the cheat/scam levels would be up too causing more work for the mods
3) Allowing anyone to trade anything would give our forum a bad reputation throughout the community

Making 5 posts and being a member for a month doesn't entitle you to an invite to a private torrent site. It enables you to access a section of the board where someone may give you an invite if they deign to do so.

The people with invites will probably ask to see your ratios at other private torrent sites before they give you an invite. Usually they will also want something in return too -- like an invite to a different private torrent site.

So if you're not already a member at any private torrent sites, you'll probably not be able to obtain an invite to one using the invite section of FST.


Your best bet is to monitor threads that tell you of private torrent sites with open sign-ups and join one of them.

No. From experience, we used to have far too many members that had no wish to contribute anything whatsoever to this board, but wanted to scam people out of invites.

The waiting period enables traders to see if the requests warrant any reply by reviewing your previous posts, and also asking you to contribute something to the board in return.

So if someone makes the 30 day wait and has 20 posts that consist of "yep" "I agree" or any other 1 liners, the member offering the invite or trade can clearly see they are not contributing to the community and are here only to scam or get into private trackers.

This is a great board and there has not been one question that I have asked that has gone unanswered. From software questions to tracker info, this is a great resource to everyone. Take your 30 days and learn something from the community. We all think we know everything, but there is always someone else out there that knows more.

I think the rationale is to prevent people abuse the system. Though it seems to be a sensible approach, kinda too hard to achieve. I aint a big forum person, I usually find answers before I ask them (chances that others may already had the issue is likely)

this is my first post....

I really don't see the point in having to wait 30 days before a newbie can post in the torrent invites section???


I only joined this site because of that section and then discovered i can't even post there even though im not going to be begging people just to give me a invite and then run off and never come back again.....i have invites to 6 different sites to offer right now but i can't even offer them! I would continue coming back to trade so i could become a member of more sites and i would also have more invites to trade.

but i guess i can't.....i have to wait a month for no good reason and i still have to make 4 more posts(i only came to the site to use the invites section but i am being forced to post in other sections if i want to eventually even use the invites section)

oh well!

you hav to give the guys who set up the fourm site there returns or the may as well just shut up shop an let up find the open singup your self

Fair policy, only I do have a suggestion:

Move the stuff that arent directly invite/trade related to the forum new members can see. Like the Tracker ratings. Thats interesting info theres no reason us new members shouldnt see, unless I'm missing something?

i don't agree. i think everything related to invites should actually be hidden BETTER! and the criteria for getting in should just get stricter and stricter as long as there is a demand that justifies it. maybe a thorough quiz on torrents, inviting & sensible behaviour could be thrown in?

it's strange that there isn't a site entirely dedicated to trading private tracker invites, because there are always more people who want to trade them than there are legitimate ways to trade. I understand that some trackers don't want or allow invite trading, but many have no policy against it, and it seems like it's more difficult than it should be.

NICE! LOL Maybe we should have mecca screening the whiners on this thread for ones that he has banned. Most likely they are using the same ID. :naughty:

That is why there is a option to view prior post by any user... Thus giving members the oportunity to see if there are "fluff" posts or valid posts on any given thread. So if someone makes the 30 day wait and has 20 posts that consist of "yep" "I agree" or any other 1 liners, the member offering the invite or trade can clearly see they are not contributing to the community and are here only to scam or get into private trackers.

This is a great board and there has not been one question that I have asked that has gone unanswered. From software questions to tracker info, this is a great resource to everyone. Take your 30 days and learn something from the community. We all think we know everything, but there is always someone else out there that knows more.

For those who missed it and are still complaining about the requirements. ;)

Lots of pwnage going on hehe. Often on the forums you can find a kind soul who's giving away at least a half decent invite for nothing. First step is probably signing up for demonoid and demonstrating that you can hold a ratio there and then using that to demonstrate that you'd be useful to a private tracker. Frustrating though, can understand why people beg and also why begging annoys people so much. Blame the leeches and cheaters for the lack of trust though
