I've been celibate for about 7-8 years now, but that was more a byproduct of not getting into any more relationships since my asexual nature complicates them too much. It's different for every person. I care but dissociate because all those ignorant enough to not realize all the negative consequences that will come of bringing back the clown are starting from such an intellectually disadvantaged position that lots of outreach and attempts to enlighten will be met with little success. Some of the negative effects will be immediate, but most will be long term, and it's very unlikely those ignorami can/will keep that scope in mind. Dramatic evolution of thought tends to require something major and catalytic to happen in their personal life (their children come out, drugs affecting multiple members in their family, they get laid off after years of loyalty, etc.). I don't really care about what happens to public figures, I'm talking about private life.

I think I may have disclosed my views on intelligence before, but I feel like articulating it again. Ignorance and intelligence are two active pursuits, the former working to protect holding onto personal beliefs (religion or spirituality, xenophobia, sexism, or some other psychological coping mechanism), and the latter to satisfy curiosity, ambition, and other pursuits of filling a void. The point is that being ignorant is not a passive state, and it can require just as much effort as being intelligent. So, trying to reason with someone who has a distorted worldview is itself a battle because they've invested their time and energy into fighting hard to preserve it by filtering out reason and seeking reinforcement.

In the end, there will be people fighting for the interest of the public, like in their actual interest. It won't stop all the problems we'll have to solve as a society in the months, years, and decades to come, but it's nothing new. We're still reconciling with problems created by the Obama administrations, Bush administrations, Clinton administrations, Reagan administrations et al in not so minor ways, and for that sake, the ambiguities present in laws and constitutions from hundreds of years ago. It's just becoming more increasingly sensationalized, and he's just another self-serving dipshit surrounded by other dipshits.

But yeah, I don't really engage with them because it's about the same as talking to a religious nut or a child. Well, it's like that for me no matter what. Every person I meet regardless of political view, profession, gender, race, age, etc. is basically an idiot. The trick is to keep it small so that I don't have to deal with how much of an idiot they are.

I have met people in life who aren't idiots, and they are lifelong friends even if I may only talk to them once a year, five years, decade. Don't ask about yourselves because none of you are even real. Family isn't really examined in with the same lens. But as good as Donnie Yen has been in other things, I don't think we need a Blind Fury remake. His character just doesn't seem like he could carry a full movie as the lead.

Further growth of The Continental and other gypsy crap doesn't really appeal to me *unless* it was episodic with different assassins coming in for/between missions.

Hollywood will run any film series into the ground as just long as it continues to make money. I think the John Wick universe simply doesn't work without Keanu Reeves. Done correctly, there's always a place for the highly skilled assassin-- one seeking redemption, finding purpose, out for revenge, protecting someone (innocent), or Jason Bourne. But these tasks all have a limited number of times that they remain properly interesting as a character/storyline.

I think the uphill battle for Ballerina will be finding any reason to care about a gypsy. Ana De Armas is always likable so we'll see. Also, which of those plot outlines i just mentioned fit the situation. I'm curious if the universe that she's in with Wick will be necessary, or will they be using already known and now far less interesting people and places as backdrop.

If you were making hundreds of millions of dollars from each movie and demand for sequels stayed constant, would you stop?

Same goes for gacha games, especially those based on existing works. In all likelihood many of those devs don't like the "system", but successful ones are money printing machines, so it's hop on the train or be left behind.

In both cases it's audiences that would have to call it quits - with their wallets!

Nowadays every part of the process is automatable. A new TV episode or movie can be downloaded in your favorite quality, repaired, unpacked and be ready for watching before you even know it's out.

Given how high the bar was, I also expected supreme greatness, but eventually realized that both were a way of giving fans more Breaking Bad without actually giving them more Breaking Bad and were therefore bound by that limitation. Saul in particular managed to avoid that "but the original never said this bullshit we just came up with didn't happen!" effect which plagues sequels so much :ermm:
