Siliconera do a roaring trade in boosted game details, even going so far as to cite a regular source for the stuff. A few weeks back, their inside man had the goss on Syndicate way ahead of schedule; today, it’s Dead Space 3. The game has only been hinted at by EA, but already, it seems, there is a script in the works – and it’s currently sounding a lot like Isaac Clarke meets Silent Hill and The Thing. Those… are all fantastic things.

Crytek’s vaunted PC graphical overlord has been slated as a downloadable title for Xbox Live and the PSN, but when? When, we ask? Today we have our answer October 4th. It’ll set Xbox peeps back 1,600 Microsoft Points and the PS3 set will be forking up $20 for this trip back to 2007’s most attractive FPS heyday. Worth it? I hazard a guess a whole lot of folk will enjoy the original Crysis a lot more than its divisive recent sequel.

Last night, Facebook rolled out its latest edition of the constant stream of updates from all of your friends you don't really keep in touch with News Feed, complete with a real-time, scrolling update box on the upper left, the introduction of user-determined "top" stories, and an annoying box for new people you should "subscribe to" (still figuring that one out).

Doing something as simple as playing a computer game called Foldit, gamers have helped to unlock the secrets of a protein-cutting enzyme from a virus that resembles AIDS. Though that may not mean much to you, it's a breakthrough that could have real repercussions for those researching AIDS and cancer treatment.

Maybe it's time for Facebook to finally roll out that "dislike" button.

Facebook is getting an earful about changes it made to the News Feed right before its annual developers conference on Thursday in the US.
Of course, anytime the social networking site makes changes, users revolt at audible levels. Facebook is the world's most popular social networking service with more than 750 million users, so even a small protest can stir up the web.

As I patiently wait for my copy of Dead Island in the mail, I feel relieved I opted to purchase TechLand's co-op tropical island zombie slayer on PS3. Following the announcement earlier this week that there would be one hell of massive patch, the patch has finally been released for the Steam version of the title. ...

Apparently there were a couple of videos shot to promote Bittorrent way, way back in the dark ages of 2007. They followed the Get a Mac ad format and were reasonably entertaining: they made fun of iTunes’ slow download speeds and lower definition movies, etc. The first video in the series was sort of a fail – it was amusing enough, but if you are promoting a product that is quite often used for illegal purposes then you are probably better off not associating it with violent criminality (you will see what I mean). The other videos were kind of cute though.

As a crucial Australian copyright lawsuit goes to its High Court for consideration, a new WikiLeaks cable from the US State Department suggests that the force behind the action is anything but local. On the surface, it appears that the suit against iiNet—on the grounds that the country's third biggest ISP hasn't done enough to crack down on illegal file sharers—is an Australian content initiative. But according to the cable, the prime mover behind the suit is actually the Motion Picture Association of America, through the Motion Picture Association, its international arm.
