Just last year they became locked in a short lived stand-off with the UK cinema chains for having slashed the theatrical release window of Alice in Wonderland, scheduling the DVD and Blu-ray release for just twelve weeks, and not the usual 16, from when the film hit cinemas.

The latest meeting of the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General has just taken place here in Adelaide to cast a vote on the introduction of an R18+ rating for videogames. Sadly the result has again left the situation in limbo, with the ministers failing to reach the required unanimous decision. No surprises here.

Right now, I’m listening Mark Morgan’s score for Planescape: Torment. It is one of the most epic games known to anyone, and it is a PC game. The PC is epic, but lately it’s been finding itself at a bit of loss when matched against the big money the consoles can produce for their publishers. Not so today, friends. Remember those initial reports that racer fans playing Shift 2: Unleashed on the PC wouldn’t be receiving any of the DLC released for console versions of the game? Lies. You’re getting ‘em, and you’re getting ‘em for free.
