In a statement posted to the studio’s most recent Bungie Weekly Update, expectations for an E3 unveiling of their debut project for new masters Activision were scuppered – and for good reason, really: "We wanted to make sure you didn't get whipped into a rumor-fueled frenzy only to have your expectations unceremoniously dashed during expo week."

Good news on those fronts: fan site Diablofans must have a man on the inside, because they’re reporting that Blizzard’s latest investor conference call has confirmed a public beta test for the game in the third fiscal quarter of this year.
