BOISE, Idaho - A former middle school teacher in Meridian has pleaded guilty to possession of visual representations of child sex abuse.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Steven Kutzner, 33, had downloaded more than 70 animated cartoon pornographic images on his computer. Many of them depicted child characters from The Simpsons.

Kutzner was a former middle school teacher at Lake Hazel Middle School in Meridian. He resigned immediately after the search warrant was served at his home.

Mobile users in the US and Canada tend to pay more for a complete cell phone package than anyone else in the world, according to a new report from the New America Foundation's Open Technology Initiative (OTI). The foundation examined the different types of mobile packages in various countries in order to determine the minimum cost for voice minutes, texting, and data, and found that—surprise!—countries with more competition and more regulation tended to have the best pricing.

The thirst for pirated e-books may be growing. Every day people type between 1.5 and 3 million Google queries for pirated e-books, an increase of 54 percent over queries logged one year ago, according to a new study by Attribute Research.
Since the iPad became available in mid-May of this year, demand for pirated e-books has increased by 20 percent. And no wonder: iOS users expect most apps to be free. iBooks, Apple's virtual bookstore app released along with the iPad, is free. But click on a bestseller and it'll cost $10 or more. Sticker shock.
Of the 89 top-selling titles from Amazon used in the study to quantify illegal downloads, "Breaking Dawn," Stephanie Meyer's fourth installment in the Twilight series, was the most sought after title in searches for pirated e-books, just about the time it fell off of Amazon's 100 top-selling books in September.

Anonymous has struck again - this time hitting Italy. The websites of FIMI (Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana), the Italian IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry), and the Pro-music.it. Italy has been a hot bed of P2P controversy, especially after The Pirate Bay was blocked for the second time in February this year. These pro-industry organizations were instrumental in this, lending their support to the effort. FIMI was especially involved, being the organization that initiated the lawsuit which was eventually successful.
