Move over, US Copyright Group—the pornographers are going to show you how they do it (in several senses). Over the last two weeks, one lawyer with an AOL e-mail address, working out of a Martinsburg, West Virginia office, has managed to file more than 16,700 new lawsuits against file-swappers with a taste for Batman and booty. The cases follow the familiar pattern and wouldn't be notable except for the fact that they make lawyer Kenneth J. Ford the current copyright litigation champion of the entire US in 2010.
Ford's law practice has done well since he went into the porn protection biz earlier this year, setting up shop under the name Adult Copyright Company. He filed several lawsuits during the summer for films like Juicy White Anal Booty 4, but it's only this autumn that his business has really come into its own.

It seems that Call of Duty: Black Ops is enough of a reason to commit armed robbery, as two thieves with semiautomatic weapons held up a local GameStop store and stole 100 copies of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Activision's upcoming shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops, is set to be one of the best selling games of all time, and will attract a lot of people, given the impressive features it will have, and because of the popularity of the previous game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The Girl Scouts Research Institute celebrated its tenth anniversary yesterday with the release of its latest study into the relationship between girls and social media. The findings are based on an online study with 1026 girls ages 14-17 who had social network profiles.
91% of the girls in the study said they used Facebook regularly, while only 28% said the same about MySpace. Demonstrating that teens do not eschew Twitter, 38% said they had a Twitter account, and averaged about 8 Tweets per day.

Nonetheless, the vast majority said they prefer face-to-face communication. And 92% said they would give up all of their social networking friends if it meant keeping their best friend.

Things don't seem to be going well for the Ministry of Sound - the largest independent label in the United Kingdom. First, they decided to sue alleged file-sharers, which have placed them on the wrong side of the public relations battle. Second, their quest to obtain the identities of about 100+ suspected file-sharers was squashed last month as a UK court delayed proceeding until at least January 2011 (thanks to the massive ACS:Law data breach). Now the MOS has found out that BT Broadband has deleted 20,000 out of 25,000 records of suspected file-sharers; records that the MOS wanted preserved.

The launch marks a new beginning for Microsoft on the smartphone market in the US, as the new Windows Phone 7 platform is radically different than the older Windows Mobile OS.

A survey conducted by antivirus vendor BitDefender revealed that only five percent of people use digits or special characters in their passwords and that sixty percent use single-case-only access codes.

The conclusions are the result of a questionnaire taken by 1,000 random individuals, half men, half women, from 16 countries, with an average age of 29.5 years.

The questions attempted to determine passwords strength and habits and were individually explained to respondents in a live interview.

Facebook has long been a one-way valve. You put data in so you can connect with friends, and then you can’t get it out and use it the way you would like to, even as the company is trying to corner the market on your identity.
And Thursday night Google called out its rival on such data-portability hypocrisy: It banned the huge social network from allowing its users to connect their Gmail contacts to see who among them are also on Facebook to get the friending frenzy started.
Previously a Facebook user could give the social network permission to look through their Google contacts for e-mail addresses via Google’s Contact API. Facebook would match them up with user profiles to suggest people to befriend. And if those people weren’t on Facebook, you could send them an invite by e-mail to join—which is exactly how a social network goes viral.

A California man used targeted social engineering attacks to trick over 200 women and girls into installing malware that gave him complete control over their computers, including webcams and microphones.

The man selected his targets from a popular social networking website and sent them private messages, posing as their friends or family members.

Recipients were encouraged to view an alleged scary video contained in an attachment, which was actually a trojan installer.

UK Record label drops effort to sue tens of thousands of people suspected of illegally sharing copyrighted copies of its albums.
The Ministry of Sound says it has halted plans to sue more than 25,000 people it accuses of illegal file-sharing.
Ministry of Sound CEO Lohan Presencer blames the decision on the fact that “less than 20% of the names remain and BT (the UK ISP that the 25,000 accused are customers of) costs have soared from a few thousand pounds to several hundred thousand pounds.”
“It makes no economic sense to continue with this application,” he added.

We already discussed about how the porn industry has always known to technologically adapt itself with every new progress made in this respect and become a pioneer when it comes to fresh distributing models. We also reported in previous posts about this industry’s latest discovered frenzy – suing file-sharing users.
This aspect concerns this post. Porn producer Axel Braun has filed a federal copyright suit against no less than 7,098 alleged file sharers, CNET reports.'
At the core of the legal issue lies the massive illegal distribution online via p2p file sharing networks of the porn parody 'Batman XXX'.

Rep. Tom Price, chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, said yesterday that this week's elections will provide "an opportunity for our Republican principles to shine through our policies."
But what that means for privacy, Net neutrality, and other regulatory areas that affect Internet companies isn't entirely clear.
